This was one of the many tens of balloons which went up into the air. You can see the feeding flames there as the folks waved to us all.










Folks readying to board the basket and take off. I don't know too much about this but each ascension involves plenty of folks to hold down the balloon while they unfasten the ropes?

This photo taken in 2005 at the QuickChek Balloon Festival in Readington, New Jersey. It was quite exciting and intense. I couldn't get out there last year due to the extreme heatwave we'd been going through but hopefully this year's weather will be more pleasant.

An archipelago is a chain or cluster of islands. The word archipelago literally means "chief sea", from Greek arkhon (arkhi-) ("leader") and pelagos ("sea"). In antiquity, the Archipelago (Greek: Αρхιπέλαγος) was the proper name for the Aegean Sea and, later, usage shifted to refer to the Aegean Islands (since the sea is remarkable for its large number of islands). It is now used to generally refer to any island group or, sometimes, to a sea containing a large number of scattered islands like the Aegea.

Archipelagoes are usually found in the open sea; less commonly, a large land mass may neighbor them. Archipelagoes are often volcanic, forming along mid-ocean ridges or hotspots, but there are many other processes involved in their construction, including erosion and deposition.

The Stockholm Archipelago (Swedish: Stockholms skärgård) is the biggest archipelago of Sweden, and one of the biggest archipelagos of the Baltic sea.

Panglao Island, Bohol Philippines


Dolphin & Whale Watching is an all year round activity in the Bohol Seas. The best season for this though are the months from March to June. Former whale-hunting boats called canters have been refitted specifically for a safe and comfortable tour. The boats, measuring 15 to 20 meters in length, can accommodate up to seven passengers. Each of these craft is furnished with seats and roofing, and equipped with life vests.
Tour spotters which serve as your tour guide were former sea creature hunters who lived off on their catch of dolphins, Bryde whales, whale sharks and manta ray which breed on the pristine waters of this island. Although, jaws and bones of marine mammals and whale sharks still adorn a number of village homes, hunters have now abandoned their centuries-old hunting tradition to join the government’s thrust to protect Philippine marine treasures, become stewards of the sea and this Bohol tour attraction is now an alternative livelihood program for them.
